Young Performers International is holding its wildly popular Summer Music Camps again this summer in Marin and San Francisco Counties.

Both camps are staffed by world-class musicians and student interns with an advantageous teacher/student ratio of 1 to 3. Over the past 5 years, students come from as far away as Florida, Iowa, Canada and France to attend this extraordinary week of focused individual instruction and inspired collaboration with other young musicians from across the country and around the world.

Teaching internships are available for proficient, mature and motivated teens and young adults. Limited financial aid is available for low income students; please download and fill in the financial aid form at www.youngperformersintl.org right away if you need financial help. Sliding scale and tuition payment plans available. No qualified student will be turned away for lack of funds

What: San Francisco Rock Camp: $425
When: July 27 through August 2, 2009, Monday - Sunday: 1-5pm
Where: Slanty Studios, 3779 25th Street, San Francisco, CA 94124 & Secret Studios, 2200 Cesar Chavez Street, San Francisco, CA 94124
For: Ambitious musicians and singers grades 6-12 who want to form a band and put on a rock concert in a classic Bay Area venue.(2 yr experience required for instruments)
Additional Individual Instruction: Individual instruction is available Tuesday through Friday at $70/hr both before and after camp.

Public Concert: The camp will put on a full scale rock concert at Cafe du Nord, 2174 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94114 (415 861 5016) on Sunday, August 2 from 1-4 pm. This concert is open to the public, and tickets are $5 for youth and seniors and $10 for adults.

 

What: Marin Jazz,Pop & World Music Camp:$425
When: August 10-16, 2009, 1-5pm
Where: .Mt. Tamalpais United Methodist Church, 410 Sycamore Avenue (at Camino Alto), Mill Valley, California 94941(Please call YPI for further information)
For: Talented young musicians and singers in grades 3-12 who want to acquire new music skills and put on a full-scale public performance in just one week.No previous music or band experience necessary. Includes a beginners camp for younger students with no previous band experience.
Additional Individual Instruction: Individual instruction is available Tuesday through Friday at $70/hr both before and after camp.

Public Concert: The camp will put on a Benefit Concert in the Sanctuary of Mt. Tamalpais United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 16 from 2-4 pm. This concert is open to the public, and tickets are $5 for youth and seniors and $25-100 for adults, which includes a tax-deductible donation of up to $75.

Young Performers International is a non-profit children's performing arts company with branches in San Francisco, Alameda, and Marin counties. YPI provides after-school music education programs including jazz/rock band, chorus, percussion ensemble, and individual instruction, and summer music camps specializing in rock, jazz, pop and world music. One quarter of our students attend on scholarship, provided by YPI.
