Patti Cobb: Instructor in vocals, keyboards, guitar, bass, band coach
Patti was raised in Southern California, but moved to the Bay Area at 17 and, except for a year of music studies in Vienna, Austria, has made her home here. She earned her BA degree in music at UC Berkeley, where she was immersed in Early Music, did stints singing with the UCB Collegium Musicum, San Francisco Chamber Singers and at Renaissance Faires, and then moved into the current century to play in rock and blues bands. Patti's musical background is varied and eclectic.

As a teacher, Patti uses her varied background to meet her students where their interests and aptitudes lie, focusing on keyboard harmony, ear training and rhythm alongside note reading and playing technique for overall development in musicianship. But most of all she wants her students to gain the skills to help them realize the amazing universal language of music that connects them to musicians all over the world and is, at its heart a source of tremendous joy and FUN! Patti's talents are currently featured in the Classic Rock/Country-rock/Blues band Absolon and Blues/Jazz-rock group Blue Monday. She is also part of a newly-formed acoustic vocal quartet. She continues to foster a love of folk music as director and pianist for a Scottish dance open band and plays with stellar fiddlers such as Alasdair Frasier, John Taylor, Janet Kurnick and David Strong. |
Bands Patti has been in over the last 16 years include Bad Plaid, The Sam Pointer Band, The Michael John Band, Boogieman, Blue Legacy, Boulevard Blonde Band, Black Widow, Lookin' For the Good, Rhythm Burning and Brazen Hussy & the Blue Hearts. She has also played on numerous occasions with her brother, noted Bay Area guitarist Chris Cobb, giving her the opportunity to play with many incredible musicians, including blues legend Ruth Brown. Patti's soulful vocals and hot keyboard licks have been featured on CDs by singer/songwriter Ted Czuk, bluesman Michael John and jam band Stony Point.
